Slovenia is a small land-locked country located south of Austria and bordering with Italy, Croatia and Hungary. In the west Slovenia is a mostly mountainous country, with plains only in the east and southeast. It has a total area of 20273 kmĀ² and a bit over 2 million inhabitants. Slovenia was the first country which emerged from the breakup of former Yugoslavia in 1991. Slovenia has a developed economy and is per capita the second richest of the Slavic countries after the Czech Republic. It's a member state of the European Union and has been using the Euro since 2007.
