The royal palace in Oslo is located in a park a few hundred metres northwest of the city centre. It was built in the first half of the 19th century as the Oslo residence of the Swedish-Norwegian king. The palace was renovated after 1991 nad has been the residence of the Norwegian king since 2001. For a royal residence, the Oslo royal palace is relatively small and unimpressive.
