After Tashkurgan the Karakoram highway continues along a dry valley with very few settlements. Every now and then you spot some yak or camel herds. Approx. two hours after leaving Tashkurgan the road starts the final climb to the Khunjerab pass. The scenery becomes breathtaking, with mountain ridges, cliffs and snow capped peaks.
